Englebretsen Engebretsen IN New Zealand
Hi I am a descendant of Engebret Engebretsen, he was my Great Great Grandfather. He came to New Zealand in 1872 from Christiana, Norway. He and his wife Sophie had 10 children, 3 in Norway and the other 7 were born in New Zealand.
My Great Grandfather was Bert (Gustave) Englebretsen. Born in New Zealand
I am looking to complete the family tree and seek information regarding my Grandfathers brothers and sisters.
There were 10 in the family. Two died at a young age, but Peter, Alfred, Anna, Otto, Clara, Bert, Carl, Emma & George all were brought up in NZ.
Would love to hear from any one with some information on the where abouts of these people and their descendants.

They are both Buried in the Hamilton Park Cemetery Hamilton City, Waikato, New Zealand.

I have found most all I think but a majority of them lived in the United States. Are you in New Zealand? I have found some that are from Norway, but they died in the Unites States. do you know the ones that died young? I also have found some descendents
but I think you will have to call them yourself. Let me do some more checking and I will have most of what you wanted Ok. It may be a few hours but I will give you what I have later today. I just want to be sure of what I believe is most of your family. I did not find a Bert or Gustav but I did find a Carl Gustav Engebretsen. I think I have found the link that you need to get to any other ancestors. If you have Find A Grave.com then you can find most all of you family providing that you know how to work the Find a Grave. If you go to find a grave. com then put in the name Otto Engebretsen. don't put in the dates just clink on the All Countries, don't put in Norway at first or United States. Just put in the name of Otto Engebretsen. On his site it has his history, his parents and siblings and you can also click on to each name and highlight it and you can find the other people that way. It doesn't matter if there is no date of death I have also found some I believe they are in your family.

Buried in Grove cemetery- Steuban, New York. This was no person named Clara with the date of birth of april 1873
The only Emma that has a date of birth of 1882 is this one: Emma L Newhart Gower born March 6, 1882, and died March 4, 1920 - Wife of Daniel Gower Belfast Union Cemetery - Northhampton County Pennsylvania.
I also found a Carl Gustav Engebretsen b. May 28, 1896 Died Jan 1, 1968
Buried in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery- Hennepin County Minnesoto
He also has a picture up on his site and also a purple heart. and a picture of his family.He calls him his grandfather and he came from Norway, a War Hero. Find a grave memorial # 624340 There are 39 Engebretsen buried in Minnesota.

They came here in 1872 and apart from my line back through my father, grandfather and great grandfather we know nothing of what happened to my grandfathers brothers & sisters as mentioned before in New Zealand.

Do you know if they ever left New Zealand? Cause I thought they were from Norway? I originally went to New Zealand in Find a Grave. Cause you said you wanted to find your family but didn't really reveal much of anything. Now you are saying that your family is in New Zealand and they have been there all along? You need to work on how you give information. However those people that I put in at the beginning were the only ones I found in New Zealand. But I pride myself on thinking outside of the box, and most of the time the family only thinks they know where their family is at. I find people all the time, and they may be from United States, or Australia or where ever and they are suprise when I find them across the United States. I go by the name or dates of birth or death or places that they may have been at one census or another. But I will try as you say they are in New Zealand. But if I can't locate them, then you will have to think outside of the box. Nsueturney60
I tried again to locate your people in New Zealand. The name Engebretsen is in find a grave. The two names that I gave you first the Roy Daniel and Joan Allison Powell are the only two that comes up in findagrave with that last name. However I also put in the name Engbretsen and there are no people in find a grave with that last name. I also put in the name Engelbretsen in New Zealand and there were no people by that last time in New Zealand. Howver there are 6 people in Findagrave with this last name. I also put in Englebretsen in New Zealand and their were 11 people that came up in Findagrave. One was a Peter Englebretsen and his date of birth was June 1909 and died Oct 15, 1909 He lived about 4 months. Mataman -Cemetery, Manawatu, Manawatu-Wanganui.

You can use the initial J, G. or E. M. or any initial. see what comes up. Maybe you can locate your relatives that way. I don't know your relatives. But only you would know and besides you are in New Zealand so you would know how to call, right? We are in the United States. and I am in Waco, texas.
