Esteps of Kentucky

My maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Dorthy ESTEP, was born in Greenup County, Kentucky in 1896. She died in Ohio in 1969 from leukemia. Her parents were Martha E. Sexton (1867, KY to 1935, OH) & Joseph ESTEP.

Martha & Joseph had 3 children:

Joseph 1882-? Rausie 1890-? and Elizabeth 1896. I believe that Joseph, the father, died when my grandmother was maybe 3 years old. Martha eventually married William Sturgell. She died of cancer of the liver.

My grandmother, Elizabeth, married Wilbur Dee Neal in 1912. They had 4 daughters, the youngest, Rausie Pauline, was my mother. They eventually divorced & Elizabeth married Robert "Bob" Ballengee.

On a personal note, my grandmother, Elizabeth, was the best cook ever! She loved to eat bread. She also loved limes.

I don't know much about my great-grandfather, Joseph, since he died probably about 1899? I don't know much about my great-grandmother, Martha, either except that her mother's name was Elizabeth.
