as a widow sometime before 1895 and that a couple of generations lived in her brownstone in Brooklyn. Can't find her through great-grandfather. What are some variations of Jeanie that I might find. I know her maiden name, but a space for that info doesn't show up in search sites. I don't know if she even used it as in Jeanie Campbell Pallisier(Palliser). What comes next?

Keep looking for all possible spelling variations. Make sure you keep records of what website/source you have searched. I can do this within the 'Notes' section for each individual in free family tree software that I downloaded from familysearch.org called Personal Ancestral File.

Here's a few sites that you might wish to search for your 2g grandma:-
Surname Navigator

GenesReunited

RootsWeb scroll down to Family Trees WorldConnect click on Search Family Trees and a text box will come up, just put a few combinations of your 2g grandma's name and/or spouse and without spouse and see what you find.
