I have been doing research for about 20years and have never found any link to my Farrell family in Ireland. My father and siblings knew hardly anything about his Irish grandmother, and I have yet to find anyone in NZ who does.

Hi adipat, it seems to be a hard one to find. I have Martin Farrell c1790's married to Anastasia ?(possibly Swift or Downey) located in Swiftsheath Kilkenny Ireland. They are my ggggparents. Their daughter Bridget married Patrick Lannan, I know there were other Farrell siblings etc but will have to dig a bit further. If you find anything let me know!!

Hi Shelley, I will do. Every birth certificate I have for Ellen's children says Kiltown, Kilkenney. There are two Kiltowns' one at the top in Castlecomer the other one is down the bottom of Kilkenney in the area called The Rower. not many records available for the lower one. There is also a place called Piltown in this area, I believe its on the other side of a river in the area.

Swiftsheath often comes mentioned with Coolcraheen if that is any help.

Also Thomastown, as an afterthought!

Thanks for that Shelley, I will keep both those places in mind.

Have found Anastasia...she was a Breen from ?Carlow. Also some of the Farrells went to both the USA and Australia. The USA Farrell I have married a Lannan girl. Seems the families continued their Irish friendship/relationship
