There is a bit of information in an 1879 NSW Police Gazette about a John Forden if you need it.

Hi Gerry

Thankyou. How does one go about looking at that information? Is there a website that I can look at?

Cheers

Biddy,

Data from some years of the NSW Police Gazette is part of the information provided by World Vital Records that I subscribe to.

An entry for 2nd April 1879 has a warrant being issued at Glen Innes for a John Fordan for deserting his wife Hannah leaving her with no means of support. He was arrested in July by Constable Malone of the Yeltman Police. He was remanded at Glen Innes to be dealt with.

I don't know the outcome.

John Fordan should read FORDEN my typing error. Maybe not your John Forden because the wife mentioned was Hannah!

Hi Gerry

OMG thankyou very much for that information. You are amazing. I knew there was a Hannah Forden buried in the Wellingrove cemetery which is just 10 minutes out of Glen Innes and I have said for years that she had to be his first wife. This now proves I was correct in my thinking. I couldn't get her death certificate because her death was not registered. His second marriage had him listed as widower.
Again THANKYOU so very much.

Cheers

Biddy,

It's great when we have a genealogy win, maybe the Glenn Innes Court House might hold historic records about the case for John. The only reference I can see for Hannah is the burial and headstone.

Born 20th August 1823 & died 18th July 1880.
Presbyterian Section.

Wonder where Hannan came from, maybe Scotland being Presbyterian, pity about no death certificate.

Do you need any assistance with other names?

Hi Gerry

Thankyou again. Not at present. I think I have everyone else covered for the time being. Unless you happened to find anything on a Patrick O'Brien born 16-2-1880 Glen Innes, NSW died 31-7-1956 Emmaville, NSW.
I know who his parents are and his wife was Sarah Lilian O'Hara, but if he happens to be in a Police Gazette that would be fantastic. May solve another secret.

Cheers
Biddy
