Frank Welch was a Cherokee Indian He was Given the Name of Frank Wel
Frank Welch was a Cherokee Indian. He was given the name of Frank Welch in Oklahoma and sent by train to Boscabel, Wisconsin. He married Stella Elliott and they are both buried in the Union Cemetary/Mt.Zion Methodist Cemetary outside of Boscabel, WI.
My grandfather, Harley Welch was his son. Would like to know if anyone knows more of the Cherokee Indians given "American names", and sent to different locations in the US. They were forced to sign forms, that they wouldn't use their indian names.
My mother, Dorothy Lucille Welch, remembers a name "Bird Wood", being mentioned, when she was growing up.
My grandfather, Harley Victor Welch was the son of Frank and Stella Welch. Harley Welch was born 6/14/1900 or 1901. He died in 1976. Frank
