George W Gies

I am looking for information on my great-grandfather, George W. Gies, sometimes his name is listed as Georg. I have March 23, 1853 as his date of birth, born in Marburg. He came to the United States in September of 1860, with his older sister Betty and his older brother Peter. I can find no record of him before his leaving Germany to come to the United States. I don't know his parents names or anything prior to 1860. If someone can help point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
