Five years later, in 1921, Henry HAMBRIDGE marries secondly, Cath HAASE at Bendigo and dies 1939 age 74 at Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo.

Henry & Sebina HAMBRIDGE had nine children, their seventh child - fifth son - Cecil Roy HAMBRIDGE married Irene Mabel STEWART, and they were my much loved godparents.

More HAMBRIDGE

Thanks so much, this really gives a lot of interest.

I had found a brief reference to her as "Hambridge, Sabrina, Coburg, nurse, has two children in her care" February 1907 Monthly Return List 34, so knew she had something to do with the care of children other than her own.

Secondly, her daughter and namesake Sibena Mary HAMBRIDGE (referred to here as Sylvana or such), worked at Sunbury asylum - her brother Cecil Roy HAMBRIDGE was married to Irene Mabel STEWART, whose stepfather, Edwin STAGOLL also worked at the Sunbury asylum (and at Ararat asylum before that).

Thirdly, Sibena Francesca HAMBRIDGE nee CULLEN was buried at Melbourne General Cemetery, but seems to have been re-interred at Coburg Cemetery on 10 October 1917 (RC Compartment F Grave No. 163 - no structure remains). The article says that her husband hadn't got back in time for the funeral and burial, perhaps he was not happy with her being buried at Melbourne General Cemetery in his absence.

Husband Harry HAMBRIDGE must have retired from the Land & Survey Department at some point, as he is listed as a grocer in Coburg in electoral rolls later (and he later remarried Cath HAASE in Bendigo, died there 1939 at Kangaroo Flat age 74 ; Harry & Sibena's youngest son, Eric George Alphonsus (Phonse) HAMBRIDGE born 1907 at Coburg, marries Annie Frost LUKE 3 January 1931 at Kangaroo Flat, and dies at Bendigo 24 May 1976 ; with wife Annie Frost LUKE 1906-1987, a daughter Joan Lorraine HAMBRIDGE 1934 - 1984.
