22 May 1812

Died on Monday evening last of a faralytic stroke, Mr. Hardy Sanders, merchant
of this city and late of Newbern. His brethren of the "Mystic Art" and the
citizens generally followed in procession his remains to the grave on Tuesday
after an appropriate sermon by the Rev. Robert T. Daniel, and paid the last
obligation to a worthy brother and an honest man. Mr. Sanders was an old and
very respectable member of the Baptist Society.
