His occupation is listed as a Miner in years 1912, 1916, 1917 and 1922 in the Electoral Rolls (Victoria, Gippsland, Omeo).

There is a genealogy posted at Rootsweb which states this information:

Name: James Brown HEDRICK
Birth: 1870 in Geelong, Vic
Death: 1935 in Omeo, Vic
His parents are:
Father: John HEDRICK
Mother: Agnes BRYDON b: ABT 1831

Furthermore, the Australia Birth Index at Ancestry gives this information:

Name: James Brown Hedrick
Birth Date: Abt 1868
Birth Place: Victoria, Victoria
Registration Year: 1868
Registration Place: Victoria, Australia
Father: John Hedrick
Mother: Agnes Brydon
Registration Number: 2850

There also is a small genealogy of James at familysearch.org in the "genealogies" section.

There is a probate index at familysearch which might be of help for locating further information. That index gives a death date of 28 March 1935 for a James B. Hendrick, a farmer, Cassilis. Not sure if that is your James Brown Hendrick or not.
