I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Saint Pierre and Miquelon Islands and how the people came over say around the year 1899. My grandfather was Emile Alexandre Bernier and he was supposed to be born in saint pierre and miquelon islands but it also says on his border crossing card that he was in Montreal from infancy to 24 years. This was listed on his border crossing card comming back over to Canada from working in Michigan, USA. So I am always open to suggestiond. Thanks Munchie

Dear Munchie, Grab a cup of tea/coffee and try this website ... Canadian Genealogy and History links.

Quote: "This is a history of the island and the family who once settled it for over 100 years ... History of Saint-Pierre & Miquelon Encyclopedie de Saint-Pierre etc."

And back here on familytreecircles, type in CANADA in the search bar top right-hand corner for more links.

Please edit this journal and type BERNIER in the surnames section. You never know who may read your journals at a later date and/or be searching for the same surname/s.

Tip: All subject headings should be specific to your journal because someone could be out there googling on the internet and come up with your journal. Have a subject heading say: "Looking for Emile Alexandre BERNIE - Canada, Montreal, St Pierre/Miquelon Islands".
