Help with Lagoys

My LaGoy family is in Schroon Lake from 1880 onward. Franklion Lagoy was convicted of murder in 1897 and spent 20 years in prison. They are a colorful bunch. Frank Sr.was born in Canada and was naturalized in 1880. He had a brother Edward who married a Harriet Benjamin, had Moses, John, Jane, Edwin and Cloe. I would like to know where these brothers were prior to 1880.

I think they are linked with families of LaGoys in Plattsburgh,Ny. A Harry and Clrabell LaGoy in Plattsburgh, are the grandchildren of Edward LaGoy. I could use all the help I can get.
