Hello Ngaire. You may be interested to know that there is to be a historic walk at the Dannevirke Settlers Cemetery on the corner of Dagmar and George Streets on Sunday November 10 at 2pm to be followed by a 'cup of tea'.
Stories will be told of
* Alice Maud ALLEN, wife of Samuel
* also of the YOUNG parents and the BANKART parents who between them lost seven children under the age of four over a short period of time.
* Williams HANSEN's mill accident
* Thomas PRESTON?s shooting
* John COVENEY's drowning
* and Henry SHANNON's demise
* and an extensive report of an accident that was of Joyce RANSOM, daughter of Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, MP for Pahiatua. The Allardice Street crossing claimed the life of this young woman aged 19 years

A reminder that the CONDUCTED WALK THROUGH THE CEMETERY is happening
TOMORROW, Sunday, 10 November 2013
The Friends of the Dannevirke Settlers Cemetery, (located on the corner of Dagmar & George Streets), will be conducting their final 2013 cemetery walk on the 10th November at 2pm. During the hour long session, stories will be told of deaths which could or could not have been avoided.
The public is invited to join The Friends and a 'cuppa' will conclude the walk

The weather promises to be fine (a high of 22?) - perfect for a wander
see you there
