Historical Information About James Pilgrim Daldy
We have an Aveling and Porter Traction engine that we believe belonged at one time to James Pilgrim Daldy. We are researching the history of the engine and need as much information as is available about the family business in Rutherglen, this was we believe, a timber contracting business, using the engine to transport wood from the Rutherglen area of Victoria to the local mines. The engine began life in the UK but was sold at auction in approx. sept 1883. We think the engine was bought at auction by James Pilgrim Daldy but need evidence of this. We are more than willing to share the information we have to date and photos of the engine as it is now fully restored and we have named it Rutherglen after its time in its name place. regards Lizzie and Barry Wood
