Hodgkinson of Preston Lancashire

I'm researching my husband's family. I've taken it back to John Hodgkinson and Ellen Bramhall who married at St John's church in 1742. John was born in 1719 in Preston to a James Hodgkinson ( I THINK!)but would like to confirm.
