Click on the members name you wish to contact and this will take you to their profile. In their dashboard at top of page click on 'Contact' and follow instructions.
The way private message work is that you send a message through the interface as he describes, and an email notification goes to the person you're contacting.
They come here and reply, and you get a notification. Back and forth. No email addresses are ever shared (unless you do that yourself in the message.)
