Let me tell you what I have found and then you can tell me if I am right or not? OK
Some of the dates are ok but then sometimes not and that is what was taking me so long because the dates that you had were not the ones I found however I re did my search and just put in the name as you had it, but then it didn't come up. But I hope that I have figured out the right ones and then you can see for yourself but I do think that I did do my research good enough to where you would recognize the names and the dates.

Lloyd R Bishop, my father, was cremated, so there are no burial records and I have already found the SS# death reference.
Harvey and Florence Bishop we have good dates and references + some info from a family bible.
Orren (I am thinking it is spelled Orrin or Orin but not Oran or Orville) Bishop (the spelling comes from a family bible) and his wife Eva Jane Bishop (Cookman) had children names Harvey J, Annie, Robert Ray, Carl, Benjamin Franklin and Goldie P (again from a family bible). Orren had siblings named John R, Sarah E, charles A, Mary and Samuel L. Eva Jane Bishop (Cookman) had siblings named Sylvia Ann King (Cookman), Andrew, Mary E Palmer (Cookman) and Lilah E. Again from a family bible.
Our info agrees about Benjamin Cookman and his wife Annie Cookman (Trotter) - father & mother of Eva Jane Bishop (Cookman).
Our family bible is now of no help for parents of Orrin Bishop. I have found info from the 1900 US census and 1809-1990 Iowa marriages that tie
Samuel (J) Bishop and Lavina Bishop (Overocker) to siblings of Orrin (Orin) Bishop.
Son of Orrin, Robert Ray Bishop Born 11/25/1889 Died 8/13/1913.
He was single and a machinist. Died in East Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa
Burial in Aurura, Buchannan County, Iowa - we have pics if his headstone in madison Cemetery.
I have looked in multiple sources but can not find any birth info for Samuel J Bishop. I believe that this info would allow use to progress futher back in the family history. Maybe the Bishop's just did not leave much of a foot print in history.
One of the Bishop's started the Bishop resturant chain but I was never told which one. Another Bishop had a gereral store at Lake Okoboji in Iowa. I believe this was Carl bishop, son of Orrin Bishop.
Thank you very much for the time you are spending helping a beginner work through this very interesting field of research.
Dennis
Hi Dennis,
I am related to Eva Cookman Bishop, who married Orren Bishop, Eva was the sister of my great grandfather, Robert Cookman. Eva was the first child of 9, my great grand father, Robert was #4. I have a photo of Eva, although it is a Xerox copy and not great. I am happy to help you find the Bishops, and share any info I have. I am interested in anything you might know about Benjamin Cookman and Annie Trotter Cookman.
If you send me your e-mail address I will add you, as a member, to the Bishop Family Tree. It will be easier for you to view our family tree and to check the relationships of our relatives. There are only 11 remaining first cousins and we have not met, in person, for some 30 years. We are planning a reunion next spring, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Cedar Rapids was the hometown for many of us. My father and his 4 sisters were all born in Iowa. As a result we have many relatives buried in Iowa. One of our reunion activities will be to visit as many graves as possible and document with photos.
I have only recently started this fascinating family research. My local library has a subscription to an Ancestor Search site and I am still learning how to search the various records that are available. My cousins do have some various family records which I used a basis for the initial research of the family tree.

That is a far back as I have found. If you have additional information please pass it along.
Thanks - Dennis
Thank-you Dennis! I will send you my email. I am stuck on Benjamin Cookman and Annie Trotter both, trying to find immigration details for Benjamin, and their parents.
I did find some dates for you, RE: Samuel and Lovina. Samuel born 29 March 1829 died 12 July 1913. Lovina born 1 May 1835 died 21 August 1903. They are both buried in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester Iowa. If you send me your e-mail, I will be happy to send a photo. ( I was not able to paste anything here) My mother's maiden name is Cookman an she researched family history for many years. I have many obits and photos. Both of my grandparents grew up in Buchanan county, and they, along with many other relatives, including my Mom are buried at Campton Cemetery.
When the weather gets nicer, I am going to spend some time there researching. so will see if I can find obits for Samuel. Often they have clues.
Thank you again!
