Jane LAWRY was 3rd eldest of 11 children. The eldest child Elizabeth married on the eve of the family's departure for NZ and remained in Cornwall. Their youngest child Joseph died on the voyage from measles. Jane was never married and had two sons who were given the name LAWRY by deed poll:
Alfred Alexander Roberts' (1873-1948), his father was 'Jonathan ROBERTS' - Jane was not allowed to marry him as Jonathan Roberts great grandmother was also a Lawry
Jane's 2nd son was registered born as William FOSTER. Jane was living in the Hawkes Bay area working as a farm helper when William was conceived and she spent time in the back blocks in the Mohaka area between Napier and Gisborne with both her boys.
