I Am Looking for Information on George Washington Shelton of Henry County VA Married to Rosa Bell Hairston
Thier Children are James Henry, John Robert, Thomas Green, Burl Edwards (1910-1986), Harden Lester, Claudia, Nanny, Margaret, & George Washing Jr. I am not sure of any more information. I believe that George W. Sr was born between 1869 and 1874 and that his parents were farmers.
When I started to do the research I came across several George W. Shelton's but I need to clarify whether or not George W. is white or black? I did find a George W. that is white and also a black George W. so I need to know which do I do the research on. I also found a Rosa B. Shelton that is white and one that is black, so please let me know which do I do the research on. Thank You. smith41
Thank you for the info. I am not sure if they are white or black either. In my research, I have found both and also (I'm assuming the black ones) a couple listed as mulatto. When asking older family members they did not know. I can probably get more information on their children if that narrows things down. I have been told that George W's father was white but I do not know about his mother, so it is possible that he may have been documented as white, black, and mulatto.
