Hi there,
Ellen Mary Margaret Hamilton was born 4 July 1886
BDM Ref 1886/10778.
I know you are after info about her parents, but every bit helps.

There are two other daughters born to an Alexander and Mary Theresa Hamilton.

1895/13428 Hamilton Agnes Mary Theresa Alexander -
1887/5921 Hamilton Catherine Elizabeth Mary Theresa Alexander -
1886/10778 Hamilton Ellen Mary Margaret Mary Theresa Alexander

It might be worth checking the record for Agnes born 1895 - quite a big gap from the first two children, so maybe she is not part of your family?

Hi
Thank you so much for that info, every little bit helps.I''ll certainly look into that. Its very hard when all you have in your grandmothers diary are names and no dates especially for one side of the family.
Ellen Mary married Edwin John Anderson 23 Sept 1919 in Timaru.Edwins family farmed in Albury.

Hello again,
Here's some interesting detail about Ellen Mary - her occupation.

WEDDING.

ANDERSON—HAMILTON. A quiet wedding took place at Chalmers Church, Timaru, on Tuesday, when Miss Ellen Hamilton, late matron of Waimate Hospital, was married to Mr E. J. Anderson, of Ohura, N.I. The bride, who was given away by Mr Malcolmson, was becomingly attired in white crepe de chine with crystal trimmings, her court train lined with palest pink ninon, being embroidered with the same design. She wore the orthodox veil and orange blossom and carried a shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were Sister Finch, who wore a lace frock with ninon overdress and black hat, and Miss Anderson, sister of the bridegroom, who wore cream lustre costume and black hat. Both carried white bouquets, with heliotrope," primulas, tied with ribbons of pale shades. The* bridegroom was attended by Mr C. B. Anderson and Mr C W. Smith, both of whom recently returned from active service. The guests were received at the Tyrol tea-rooms by Mrs D. Wilson, and later the bride and bridegroom left for the North, the former wearing a gaberdine costume, rose pink hat, and black fox furs.
Waimate Daily Advertiser 27 September, 1919.

It might be worth following up on 'Mrs D Wilson' could she be related to Ellen Mary? an Aunt? It's usually the bride's family who host the reception so....???

Ellen Mary died in 1964 in the New Plymouth area - if you look on the Archway site you will find Probate of her Will listed at the New Plymouth High Court. You can request a copy of this, but you will have to pay for it.

Regards, R.
