I Am Looking for My Great Great Grandfather Joshua N Carroll

He married Emma M Mayo on May 14, 1868. I don't know if he was in Ireland at that time or if he had immigrated already. My branch of the Carroll family settled in Virginia. His father may have been John Carroll and his mother Sophie Johns. Emma's parents may have been John and Evelina Mayo. Any help would be appreciated.
