In 1861 census she was living in Cobden Terrace, Norland Rd, Kensington. No husband present but she is described as "shoemaker's wife". I cannot find a marriage, but Thomas William Howitt is named as father of the children. In 1870 she married Obediah Brown and moved, with the children, to Sussex.
There was a Thos Wm living in Putney, he was a boot and shoe maker, with a wife and lots of children!
Is it possible that he was running two families? If so, how can I find out? Whoever he was, he is my great great grandfather.

I have just found this site and this question. I am also looking for the elusive Thomas William Howitt who is my husband's GG Grandfather through his son Thomas William born in 1860. I would like to know if anyone has solved this mystery which we have been working on for years. I have copies of all the childrens birth certificates now but still a dead end.
Thank you.
