I Am Writing to Enquire How I Would Go About Finding Information About an Ancestor That was Born IN 1850 IN Qld but Has No Official Register of Birth ...
An example of looking elsewhere would be that some Brisbane Waters Qld births were actually registered in the Colony of New South Wales.
Maybe rootschatters could help? Rootschat register as a new user, free site, then scroll down to their Australia board and post a lookup request. Would be interested to see if you were successful in finding your KEARNS ancestor.
I had a look on the Qld historical indexes online and the NSW registrar of births deaths and marriages, broadened my search on the possible years born 1840 to 1860 and searched for Kearn, Kearns, Kerns and didn't find anything. Remember they were dreadful spellers in those days too.
Queensland has a free BDM web site, if you have already used it and found nothing I can't help you.
