I'm John Nolan from Brisbane, Queensland. My ancestors are almost exclusively from the UK (which fits my DNA profile with Ancestry). My paternal great grandparents were James Star(r), who came to Queensland from Cheddar, Somerset, and Mary Ann Bennett (born abt 1844) who came from Limerick in Ireland to Queensland as a young girl. It seems she met James Starr in Rockhampton about 1865, but the couple later moved to Nebo (west of Mackay). The couple were no longer together in 1871 when Mary Ann married Daniel Nolan.

HELP PLEASE. Mary Ann's ancestors are my brick wall after 10 years of searching, so I'd really appreciate anything that seems relevant.

Mary Ann was illiterate and would not have been able to spell her parents' names, so name-spelling variations are possible. Presumably, her parents were living in Limerick (city or county) when she was growing up,so they were probably born around 1820. There are few readily available records from Ireland about that time.

Thank you in advance for any assistance. John
