Next - all the web sites on ancestry on the net . Some will let you or entice you in, then wham !!! want some money . go to the biggest and best first . " Roots" - or - " Ancestry " Their are millions of others , and most will get you a result of some kind , but they want your monies !!!!. We can go on & on , lets make a start

Gosh I missed that ** one couple has a " K " and not a " C " in the name - are they a different Family . . back to " ancestry " put in

Ok , we found the whole history of how , when & where , "Carcar, Cebu " got started . I have had a hard day, eyes are sore , my body is aching & all I want to do is sit down after tea / Kia - and watch

Suddenly - I nearly spilled my - Gin / Beer / --- coffee -----?? their it was!!!! Blog about the original families of Cebu . Wow - eeh !! & one of them is ** note the spelling ** " Gan -tuang-co " As I read on , I see their is a " Gantangco Ancestral House " plus something on this family .> ** Now we have got something to work with . To save a bit of time and Journal space , ( cause you seem to going with this exercise or show me how idea ,) and I have already started my filing system ( Haven't I ??? )We read & we research . and this is what we came up with .
The Chinese name of " Gan - tuang -co " came to Cebu, Philippines as a young aged, about 14 or so ( a guess - correct it later ) working for a " Chinese Family " named " Yap " who was a trader in fine Chinese porcelene , silks / etc . The " Yap family " had been coming & going to The philippines for a hundred years ( ? )In return they traded and took back spices , copper . gold & sliver & sometimes women . They traded out of " Fuzhou " East coast of China < *** & this article goes on & on & on with a huge amont of info of early " Cebu " Philippines, how they got there - ( sea currents - winds _ & much more ) I can hear you saying -- " Stop wandering !! " _ " What about Gan- tuang-co " Summing up >>> ** we now know " Gan- Tuang - Co " came from " Fuzhou , China for a start " We don't know what these names " Co or Ko " mean yet . What will we do ?? We hit the net and ask - " what does " Gan Tuang-co mean in Chinese " as we already have an inkling , that some one said to us , Names started from places , occupations- etc. > The desk top , in the mean time has covered all avenues , for us to look at . One item in particular- naggs at me . I copy it - Don't understand it yet ,( give me a chance .I don't know chinese language Yet ! - We don't have to know any foreign Language - we open up our " Reference file "& hold " We ask the computer for " Translation of Languages " about 800 web sites will come - 790 of them will do so for a small fee - xxxx- ** I had to buy some clothes this week for the kids . _ So thats out - ' Free to a good home " that's what I want & be careful of the " FREE " stated . " Gan - is the name of the place where this family , originally started from . The " Tuang " is the Surname - and " Co or Ko " is his given name - ** I do not know what " Co or Ko " means - . I ask " My mate who knows all >> the " computer " -- " Where is Gan in China " quick as a flash , it tells me --- " Ganzhou is a province in northern china , and got its name from the " Ganzhou River ". It is a longish state & not very wide - It is on the old " Silk Route " that traded with many middle east countries . Hey - this great stuff - Many of its people were traders & the main town was a stop over for traders & their caravans in the oldie oldie days . Finger hits the button and we take a copy . " Well ,from virtually nothing , we now have one of the original families who traded with " Carcar " - a suburb of the city of Cebu in the Philippines " -- We know what " Gan - tuang- co " means - we have a rough idea where this family started from in China _ We also now have a reasonable idea of his age & an extra ancestry P Family ( " Yap " / business/ Etc' of who he was employed by , and better still the blog we read , gave us some dates .
