I Need Information on Saunders Family IN Australia
Leopold Saunders was born in Germany but came to Australia prior to his marriage in 1872 to Rachel Solomon. He was born around 1850. His Parents were Jacob and Augusta. Leopold was a wholesale jeweller and importer. I am unable to find out when he (or his parents) came to Australia. Leopold and Rachel had a daughter, Ivy Augusta, who is my grandmother.

Extensive Forgeries on Merchants
Yesterday at the Water Police Court, a young
Italian named Raphael Costa, was brought up and
committed for trial on two charges of forging the
signature of Leopold Saunders, wholesale jeweller,
and uttering to Carl Yon Bauer, a promissory note
for £282, on the 1st April last, and forging the sig-
nature of Messrs. Myers and Solomon, merchants, of
23rd May last, and subsequently uttering, the same
to Carl Von Bauer. The latter gentleman, who is a
bookkeeper in the house of Messrs. Schloch and
Bruggermann, importers, . Clarence-street, gave evi-
dence to the effect that he had supplied Costa
at different times withgoods to sell on commission to
the amount of £233. These goods he stated
he had sold to Messrs. Leopold Saunders and Co., of
Pitt-street. In verification of his statement, prisoner
produced and handed to Von Bauer a promissory
note for £282, which turned out to be a forgery.
Joseph Solomon, a member of the firm of Saunders
and Co., deposed that the signature to the promissoiry
note was not that of any member of the firm. They
had done business with tiie prisoner to the extent of
about £500 or £600, and had always paid him in
cash. Jules Bruggermann (who had given, the pri-
soner into custody) informed the Court that Costa
told him he was very sorry for what he had done, and
begged not to sent to prison. With respect to the
second charge, of forgery, the evidence, was to the
effect that the prisoner had been supplied by the
firm of Schloch and Bruggermann with a large num-
ber of watches, which he afterwards stated he had
sold to Messrs. Meyers and Solomon, and in support
of his statement he produced a promissory note for
£226 3s 8d, which Mr. Henry Solomon, a member of
the firm, declared was a forgery. Bail was allowed
the prisoner In each case, himself in . £200 and two sureties in £100 each.

Evening News (Sydney) 30th May 1891
A dark-hued foreigner named George
Saunders was accused by his cousin, at the
City Court yesterday, of wilfully trespassing
on the latter's premises. The cousin, whose
name was Leopold Saunders, stated that the
young man repeatedly annoyed him, and
would not leave his office. Leopold had
given him money during the six weeks he had
been in the colony, but he had spent it. The
prisoner said that Leopold had written to
London and induced him to come to the
colony ; but this the other denied, and the
latter offered to pay the prisoner's passage
home again to get rid of him. The prisoner,
however, would not accept the offer. He was
cautioned and discharged, but as he imme-
diately afterwards threatened that by next
day he would kill his cousin, he was ordered
to find a surety in £25 that he would keep the
peace for three months, in default to go to
gaol for that term.

Thank you Morgan2409 and janilye for the information. (Sorry not to respond earlier but have been without computer access for three days.) If George Saunders is a cousin of Leopold Saunders that means there must be more family that I am not aware of - gives me some more leads to follow. Thanks again.
