LANGPORT //
jane lye widow 52 innkeeper in somerton
children;
thomas lye 22 baker langport.
george lye 19 brewer langport.
i belive this person is my greatgrandfather GEORGE S. LYE /
I have a 1871 census of stratford ont. canada an his age is listed as 39.in jan.16th 1860
he married margaret boag in ST.PATRICK'S WATERFORD,IRELAND
this church record states tha this father was a PETER LYE .
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS FMLY INFO????
this fmly was living in stratford ont.can an in the yr of 1870 they had a son GEORGE BOAG LYE an this man is my grandfather//

There are very few Lye's here in Australia.
most are in America. However I do know that the Lye's who came to australia were free settlers and came from Scotland. The Lye's in my family were a pretty wild bunch, lived in the bush in NSW and didn't register anything. My grandfather had at least 3 wives but I think only the first was legal.(May)she died leaving 3 little children to be fostered out.My father Harry joseph Lye, his older brother William and sister Maizie.
