I wonder whether anyone can help me track my great grandfather David Marshall Hay. He was Captain of the tender Gutzlaff for P and O in Shanghai in the 1900's.

He drowned in an accident in the Huangpoo River in 1910. I have his probate but have been unable to find a possible address for him. He was married to Emily and they had a son James and a daughter, also Emily.

I know they lived in Shanghai in the mid 1890's.

Perhaps you could try the Merseyside Maritime Museum they may have P & O Archives in their library. Emily and the children probably went back to her family. Good Luck, huge task.
