Ice of West Virginia
I'm looking for information on my maternal great grandfather and his parents, etc... His name was George W Ice born in virginia approximately 1851, he was married to sarah(flemming)Ice born in 1859 or 1860 in west virginia. They had 3 children that I know of, florence e. Ice born approximately 1878, Virgil E. Ice born approximately 1880 and Zona Belle Ice, my grandmother, born july 1901. According to the 1880 us census the family also had another person living in the home and his name was jesse ice and he was listed as 19 years old and relation to head of household was "other" his occupation was laborer. I found his death record dated may 22, 1929 and it said he died in weston lewis, wva state hospital and he was still listed as a laborer and married, no spouse listed. I'm not sure who he is but I would like to know... I would also like to know more about george w ice's parents, etc... My grandmother zona belle ice married corla L. mason in approx 1920. I have found another ice family, but not sure if they are related !

my grand mother was bertha lucinda ice. she married james oliver ludwig on jan 15, 1899. bertha's father was elam born apr 3, 1839 he marrried abigail angus. elam's father was uriah ice. uriah married lucinda hoskinson. uriah father was george. george married catherine paden. george 's father waswilliam (indian billy). williams's father was frederick iaac ice jr.

There is a group on Facebook called "The Descendants of William 'Indian Billy' Galloway Ice". If you get into the group, many of these questions may be answered by researchers who have done this more in depth than I have. I have researched this family line for 16 years. There are over 400 family members or researchers and lots of photos and other information.
