Trying to find service records on my great great uncle who died in WW1. He was Henry C J Belsham, lived in Stratford Essex now part of London. He was in the Devonshire Reg. Why would a boy from London end up in the far south of the UK?

I could not find service record but I have found in near impossible to find records of those killed.

Try this site : http://www.forces-war-records.co.uk/Search

He is on the lists but it appears you have to pay to view them
