I am working on it now ;)
very disappointing that the passenger lists for most of the immigrant ships 1839 on have been offline for a couple of weeks and no idea if they are going to be back.

Did he stay in Otago? or move north?

here is a few notes on the Tweed I put together while looking for the passengers ...
The 1745 ton ship 'Tweed' which was built at Bombay of teak (and known for the first 2 years of her career as the 'Punjaub'), sailed out of Glasgow 12 June 1874, left Gravesend 16 June 1874, passed the Downs the following day and cleared the Channel on the 18th.
She arrived at the Heads in Otago on Thursday 3rd Sep, was towed in on the evening tide and was brought up for the night at the Quarantine Ground because of lack of light. Health and Immigrant Officers boarded her and she was found to be in admirable condition and all the immigrants in good health. She arrived in Port Chalmers Friday 4 Sep 1874 with 639 free and nominated immigrants

The immigrants, arranged in their nationalities were:
ENGLISH - 203 males & 175 females
SCOTTISH - 4 males & 23 females
IRISH - 95 males & 89 females
FOREIGNERS(?) - 3 males & 2 females

They were first sent to the Caversham Barracks awaiting employment

The Tweed left Port Chalmers for Sydney with 15 passengers, on 24 Oct 1874

He actually moved South to Alexandra. What I am after is his life before arriving here, especially where he was born, parents etc. Love to be able to see application to emigrate as it would tell a lot. Thanks for helping me.
