James Gibson of South Carolina

Journal by dicie

I am searching for any information on my great great grandfather James Gibson who was suppose to be married to a Dicy Steel. James was said to be from the Pendleton District South Carolina and his family from Ireland. I have been told he may be the son of Randall Gibson of Pendleton District. James had two known sons, Uriah and Zedekiah (my line) who , along with their father, migrated to Louisiana ca 1797-99. James may have lived in Warren Co. Mississippi for a time, prior to living in Louisiana. He may have moved from North Carolina to South Carolina. I can find nothing on James and Dicy together. I did find a Dicy Gibson in Russell Co. Va. , who was a pauper and I think she had a disability. If anyone has any information on this family, I would appreciate hearing from you.

My branch of Gibsons are said to be of Indian descent and in some areas are called Redbone or Melungeon.

Thank you,
