Does anyone have ay information about the following ages, birth dates, and places of birth? James Golding married Sarah Bonner in Buckingham April 1845 and promptly caught the ship 'General Victoria' to New York finally settling in Lake County, Illinois. However,I cannot find any verifiable information before the 1845 date. In the 1841 Census I have found a James Golding and Sarah Bonner living in, what I assume is, a guest house in Buckingham called the Cow Lair. But their ages (approx. 20) and dates of birth (approx. 1821) do not coincide with their births and dates found on the 1870 United States Federal Census. Does anyone have any information regarding the Golding's and Bonner's before 1845?

noggin

You have two problems here, Both James and Sarah were not born in the county of Buckinghamshire. Secondly 1841 census can be miss leading because ages were rounded up or down.

You know from the marriage cert that both fathers are named William. Try searching for James and Sarah's birth/christening in ajoining counties. Northamptonshire/Oxfordshire
