Jane Savage Died on Board the Ship Called the Isles of the South 1874 She Died Six Days Outfrom Lyttleton Harbour Where Would Her Death Be Registered
she came out with 4 children. JESSIE married to robert paton, aged 24,alice 19 who married francis mullholland, hans 17 and our ancestor rowland15 who married betsy smith. we are having trouble tracing who janes husband was and whether janes maiden name was doughety or galbraith.

I don't know much about NZ Marine death registration but the death would have been recorded in the ships log. In NSW the deaths of all who died onboard a ship heading to NSW was again registered at BD&M.nsw with MARINE in place of death. In Victoria there is a marine Death register of all deaths on ships heading towards Victoria. I'm sure one of our New Zealand members will be able to tell you.
