I was born a McGregor in 1937, lived Marmion Street Palmyra. I recall growing up some familiar names - TONKIN & JARVIS who may have lived nearby. My older sister Edna was born in 1928 & I think she may have known Ron Jarvis. My father worked on the wharf (like most men in Fremantle), every year we would go to the Lumpers Picnic at the Perth Zoo, travel by ferries (Zephyr & Emerald) from Fremantle to South Perth. I found some items in the newspapers "West Australian Sat. 6 March 1937 pg.23 - "Boarding the Zephyr" with photo of "Ron Jarvis aged 10, showed his fleetness of foot when he won the 100 yards 8-11years". When we were children we never seemed to have forgotten many of the local names we grew up with. I didn't know the families personally, but did remember their names.
