John Lay and Mary Ellen Andrews

Hi,

I am trying to find out where the original Lay's in my family originated from. I live in Tasmania and John Lay and Mary Ellen Andrews ended up emigrating to Tasmania and having my direct ancestor Charlotte Rebecca Lay. I have been unable to find out where John Lay and his family came from. I am guessing it might be England somewhere. If anyone has any information about this family i would greatly appreciate it.
