John Percy Davis
John Percy Davis, my grandfather, dob 14 June 1884 Aston, Erdington, County of Warwick. Served in Royal Warwickshire Regiment 22.3.15, posted wounded in action in France August 1916, subsequently enrolled in Corps of Hussars 1917, served in Palestine, demobbed 1917.
It is the next 5 years of his life which interests me. Family rumours say he enrolled as a Special Constable in the Royal Irish Constabulary (the Black and Tans) but my research at the National Records Office at Kew shows no sign of his name for the whole period of the "Tan War". I scrolled through every microfiche they have looking for his name.
Any advice or assistance on continuing research about my grandfather's involvement (or not) in this particular period of British and Irish history would be gratefully received.
