Just Wondering
John skinner is who I found was the first person to come over to the u.s. I was researching and found the post about he was the only one to serve on both sides of the revoluanry war. I was just wondering if this is fact or fiction. How can I prove this?
Most of the information was published in the C19th so you can search Regimental Records for both sides.
May be available through Ancestry but I did it the hard way by downloading a copy of the original copy of the printed book from the Internet Archive and searching manually. The books are not Indexed but each Regiment after the Officers (By rank) is roughly in name order.
In my case I was looking for Union supporting
members of my family line from Ohio and the Dakotas.
Records Of service are also available for the Indian Wars
