Kelly
Hi from Australia.
My late Mum, my daughter and myself all did the spit kit from 23&Me a couple of years ago. A number of people have contacted us since and introduced themselves as relatives - with requests and information regarding ancestry. In virtually all these requests none of the surnames are at all familiar - however the common denominator of the 23&Me requests is that the surname KELLY is amongst most of them - and the repeated mention of Irish heritage. As far as we had known there hasn't been any direct Irish ancestry. BUT I have managed a fair bit of Ancestry.com.au research on my Mum's side of the family (her maiden name was AVENT) and have lately found 3 ancestors of Irish descent,(on her mother's side) but none of them is a KELLY.
Mum's Grandfather was James Bernard SMITH who was born in Dublin Eire in 1893 who migrated to Australia in 1920 with his wife Lilian nee JONES (b.1894) and their 2 children. Lilian's mother was Josephine O'CONNELL born in Cork in about 1867.
Seem to have hit a brick wall on all counts re Mum's side of the family, so any info would be greatly appreciated especially if there is a KELLY link. Cheers :)
Surnames line won't let me submit, so will attempt to here; SMITH,PHILBIN,JONES,KELLY,O'CONNELL
