Lafay Family from Ireland
It amazes me that my Great Grandfather "Lawrence LaFay" was born in Ireland. I have both his and my Great Grandmother ' Jennie Dennehy" death certificates that indicate that both were born in Ireland. However I do not know where. I have located one other LaFay family in Michigan that was born in Ireland and three families in canada born there also. How is it that there is no info on any of them? I'm sure that the family was part of the "Huguenots" that moved to Ireland from France in the 17th century.
Why can't I find a list of French surnames in Ireland? There seems to be no birth's,baptism's or marriage's that can be located. If the Mormons are supposed to have the largest geneaolgy records available than why can't I find anything. I've been doing this family tree for 35 years and I'm 74 1/2 years old, I'm running out of time. I have never been so discouraged in my life.

Do you have your family tree online anywhere? I recommend it because somebody surely is out there researching your very same ancestors. Try Geni for this. You can upload your GEDCOM file and invite living relatives to collaboratively work on the same tree.
I have French ancestry also and I've found that you must first at least know the province or taxation county that they came from.
