Lafay Family IN Ireland

I am unable to locate any info on the LaFay family from Ireland. I don't know if they were from county Cork or Kerry. I have located four or five families with the name LaFay on Ancestry.com, but can't link them to my family. They all say they were born in Ireland. I can find no info at all that the family even ever existed in Ireland. I have been searching this for 35 years and am as frustrated as I can be. I even spent $250 from the hibernia assoc in Ireland and they could not help me.
