Lemay May Can NY MI IL IN

I am looking for any information on the May's that came before Francis John May b. Dec 4, 1841. He served in Civil War. Michigan 13th Infantry, Company B from 1861-1863. He married Margaret Landry and then Ann Jane Smith. I can't find out who Frank's father was. His father was born in Canada. Can anyone please shed some light on this. I'm totally stuck!!!
