Hi I have searched but only found his birth reg and navy sheet also a couple of newspaper bits re his escape from his ship in Auckland but nothing after 1894 do you know anything else about him, parents etc?
Hi, Really appreciate your efforts, Albert James is proving to be a most elusive fellow, which makes him even more of a challenge . He was born in Bristol U.K, parents were Joseph (father) and Alice (mother), does not appear to have married in U.K. You mentioned couple of newspaper bits, could I access these online? I did come across entry in Queensland Police Gazette. 1894 seems to have been his last known appearance. Nobody in my family has any info on him, so that appears to be no help available from family.
Hi, have you access to Ancestry as 1911 cencus for joseph and alice states 8 children born alive 5 still living and 3 dead any idea the names of the children who died? I have found them on censuses bar 1891 but not many of the children are listed maybe they were staying with relatives, i will look into that. Yes I found the info in the police gazettes too
Hi,yes I do have the info on all of the children except dear old Albert James.Waiting for the 1920 census to be released to see if anything surfaces there. Incidentally the youngest child Frank was my dad. Dad also joined the Royal Navy and was a long server becoming Petty Officer. Dad died when I was 7 years old so never found out about his family history until recent years, been searching for over 30 years , just have an occasional dig nowadays, then Ancestry found Albert James - so back to the drawing board. Thanks for your help, everything now depends on finding Albert J. Many questions with probably no answers. Did he get caught, or eventually settle in N.Z or Australia. Perhaps he will show up for good or bad.
