Her parents were Walter LAWRY & Gertrude(nee ROBINS). Walter & Gertrude married in Roche Cornwall 18/10/1841. Walter was a baptist minister and emigrated with his family to Nz from Cornwall on the Queen of Mercy in 1862. They settled in Springston. Jane LAWRY was 3rd eldest of 11 children. The eldest child Elizabeth, married on the eve of the family's departure for NZ and remained in Cornwall. Their youngest child Joseph died on the voyage from measles. Jane was never married and had two sons(who were given the name LAWRY by deed poll); 'Alfred Alexander ROBERTS', 1873-1948, his father was 'Jonathan ROBERTS' - Jane was not allowed to marry him as Jonathan ROBERTS Great Grandmother was also a LAWRY ? ; Jane;s 2nd son, my GtGrandfather, is registered born as 'William FOSTER'. Hello Niki61,

There are also Lawry Families living in Leeston, Canterbury New Zealand who are farmers and a very fine family.

Would they be connected to yourself?
They are not in my tree but good friends of my family.

Hi Niki61
Do you know Elizabeth Lawry's married name? I think I have read an account of the Lawry family's voyage to NZ on Queen of the Mersey which mentions Elizabeth's marriage. Do you have an accessible online link to it?
