Looking for any family related the to Swift lineage.

Query by tiffanyswift182

Hello, my name is Tiffany Swift. I am a new researcher into the Swift family lineage. I am one out of many that is a Swift. My birthday is April 11th of the year 1996. I am hoping to have some help with this, because I have no clue where to start my research. Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi I am Richard castle based in UK and have some knowledge of research in this area. I am a voluteer photographer and indexer for WWW.gravestonephotos.com. (There are 142 Swift gravestone pictures available so far)

the standard way to start out is to find out as much as you can from the living family and from any documents handed down. You might be lucky and find some old aunt has afamily Bible from the 19th Century. It was usual to note birth and deaths on the flyleaves.

A good way to use the net is to do a search against the name Swift on familysearch.com. It is free and can give good leads if you know the locations from where your family came from.

You can also ask for help on familytreecircles.com

If your roots are English then there is a lot of free info out there. eg online Parish Clerks Project. Geniweb. and local history Societies and family history societies. Just try entering the name of your grandfather into Google and see what comes up. eg. "John Swift Brighton UK"

There is also a lot of free software designed to build family trees "Gramps" is good but has a fairly steep learning curve.
