Looking for Bitler Beutler from Germany

I have traced the family history back to Rotfelden Germany with Jacob Beutler 1540-1589. I have stalled there. I do not have his parents or wife's names. He had a son Johannes Beutler. I found a Hans Beutler born in Rotfelden around 1510 and died around 1565 who had a son Peter. Hans could possibly be the father of Jacob. There was a Bartlin Wydmaier. This could be Bartlin Beutler's grandfather.

This is what I have so far:

Jacob Beutler 1540-1589
son Johannes Beutler 1564-1607
his son Bartlin Beutler 1607-1630
Bartlin's son Johannes Beutler 1628-1693
Johannes's son Daniel Beutler 1659-1746 came to the US
Daniel's son John Long John Bitler 1762-1837
John's son Johannes Bitler 1713-1790
Johanne's son Markus Bitler 1790-1859
Markus's son Israel Benjamin Bitler 1832-1898
Israel's son Wilson Bitler 1867-1944
Wilson's son Roy Bitler 1892-1976
Roy's son John Bitler
John's daughter Tammy Bitler Cryder (me)

Hi Tammy,

Also researching the Bitler line (only just recently started), but your list confuses me.

You have Johannes Bitler (1713-1790) as having a son Markus Bitler (1790-1859), which would indicate that Markus was born the year of his father's death at 77 years old (a bit old for siring children, no?)

You also have Daniel Beutler (1659-1746) as having a son John Long John Bitler (1762-1837) which would mean he was born 16 years AFTER his father died. and Long John as the father of Johannes, born 49 years before his father was born apparently. (This obviously makes no sense).

On the site bitler.org, Long John is listed as the SON, not the FATHER, of Johannes Bitler, which would square up your dates a bit, but that site (which seems to have done quite a thorough job) has no mention of any line BEFORE Johannes' birth in 1713 (and even speculates as to the country of origin), but your list goes MUCH farther back than even that website, which seems to me to be making an attempt at being exhaustive. I would imagine that you have come across that site in your research, and I was wondering how accurate your sources are for the early Beutlers, considering the inconsistencies in the latter, more verifiable portion of your list. Have you correlated your data with the curator of that site? Do you know of a reason why that site does not continue further back past Johannes Bitler as you have, considering the site's obvious intent to connect the American Bitlers to the European Beutlers?
