Looking for Craig family of Nepean, Ontario

Query by Pennie

My ancestor was John Craig. He came to Canada around 1826. He bought land from the Canada Company in 1836. In 1841 his brothers; Robert & James, sister Isabella/Elizabeth, his widowed mother & several grandchildren named Caldwell came over.
John married Margaret Hannah. We think John was born about 1804 in Ireland & he died in 1886 & is buried in South March. Margaret was born about 1812 in Ireland & she died in 1889. She is also buried in South March. They had 10 children: Robert, John, Samuel, James, Mary, William, George, Ross {my great grandfather} & David.
Ross Craig born in Nepean 1848 died in Nepean 1919. He married Martha Swan 1887. Martha was born in Philadelphia, 1856 & died 1939 in Nepean. They are buried in Merivale cemetery in Nepean. They had 7 children: Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary, Martha, William, James, {my gtrandfather}, & Pearl.
James born 1896 & died 1977 both in Nepean. He married Jean MacKenzie in 1926. She was born in Scotland in 1906 & Died in Nepan 2003. They are both in Pinecrest Cemetery. They had 2 boys.
Hartwell {my father} born 1931 in Ottawa & Died 1997 in Saskatchewan.
Ronald: born in Ottawa still living.

Hello William Craig 1851-1952 was my 1st. CousinX4 removed. I live in Queensland Australia. I am very interested in finding out about the Craig Family. A Mary Craig 1819-1897 married William Hatty in Australia. I have a very large Family Tree on the Hatty's. Steve Berry Cairns Queensland Australia.

Hello Steve
It would seem that we are related, though very distantly
There are many people here who have been working on the Craig history so I hope we can help a bit
We do have a Mary Craig who married a John William Hatty.
Our information says Mary was the daughter of William James Craig Elizabeth Miller. born 19 May 1811 in Listullycurran, Dromore, Down, Ireland and died 26 Sept 1897 in Kyabram, Victoria, Australia.
John William Hatty was the son of Alexander Hatty and Jane McKendry. born about 1820 in Bushmills, County Antrim Ireland and died 10 April 1900 in Kyabram, Victoria, Australia [Marriage date & place is unknown]
We have 8 children listed to them; Alexander 1844, William John 1846, Mary 1848, Elizabeth 1850, Ann Jane 1853, Margaret 1855, Sarah 1858, and Maria 1860
I think we are talking about the same people, and would love to exchange information with you and add it to our tree

All your information is correct. I had Mary being born in 1819 though there was some doubt so 1811 is correct. William John Hatty is my Great Great Grandfather. The 8 children listed above as Hatty's had around 60-70 children between them. My Grandfather had 14 so there are many many people in the Family Tree. I'm also interested in any of the Craig's who were in the Wars especially WW1 as many of my relatives from long ago fought for the Empire. I have quite a lot of photos as well. Maybe we could swap E-Mails of FB profiles. My main Family research is done on Ancestry but I am also on My Heritage. I applied to join Stephen Craig's Site a few days ago.

One of Alexander Hatty's (born 1844) Maria Craig's son has a Granddaughter whose entire Family Tree can be accessed on Google by anyone in the world.

The granddaughter's name is Martha Hatty (Buerckner) her husband August Buerckner.
Google BUERCKNER FAMILY TREE-FREEPAGES-ANCESTRY.
I am a member of Stephen Craig's My Heritage Tree now. I'll suggest to him he joins their Site (I am a member).
