Looking for Descendants of John Whitelaw of Stand Who was Executed for His Faith IN Edinburgh IN 1683

I was always told by my father that there were two extremes to our family. On the one hand I had an ancestor John Whitleaw of Stand who was a Covenantor and killed for his faith and on the other hand a male relative who was hung for sheep stealing. I am tryint go prove that I am a descendant of John Whitelaw of Stand, near Coatbridge in Scotland.
