DEATH OF MRS McGOWAN.
Early on Monday morning last a very old resident of Gulgong, Mrs. McGowan, wife of Mr. Martin McGowan, crossed the threshold of Eternity. The deceased lady had been a resident of the town for over thirty years and had seen it pass through the various vicissitudes from the palmy days of the gold rush, to its present much quieter but more settled condition. She was of charitable disposition and profound regret is felt for her bereaved family, especially her aged and respected husband, who most keenly must feel the loss of his partner through the ups and downs of a long and happy married life. The late Mrs. McGowan had been in indifferent health for some time past, so that her demise was not altogether unexpected. The funeral took place on Sunday, the cortege being a very lengthy one. The Rev. Father O'Donnell read the burial service at the grave.

O'Dwyer, jun., wore a trained gown of white silk, trimmed with lace and true lovers' knots of white ribbon, finished with silver braid; she also wore a coronet of orange blossoms, and an embroidered tulle veil, and carried a shower bouquet, which with a gold muff chain and watch, a diamond and sapphire ring, were gifts of the bridegroom. Miss Win nie O'Dwyer (sister of the bridegroom) attended as bridesmaid, and wore a pretty dress of white embroidery, with an embroidered hat, trimmed with pink roses and green ferns; she also carried a shower bouquet, and wore a gold necklet, with heart pendant set with rubies, these being the gifts of the bridegroom.
