Looking for Egan Family IN Victoria Australia

Hi there - last year I was searching for Egan/Kuchler and have bit of info on Kuchler side, but have hit "brick wall" with Egan side! My Gr Grandfather was Arthur Edward Egan and spouse Lavinia Ellen Groves (nee Kuchler) Arthur and Lavinia married in 1910 and Arthur states he was born in Violet Town Vic. and was 46 when he married. Arthur's father named James Egan and deceased at time of marriage and mother only given as Sarah and no maiden name stated ( also dec at time of the marriage) It is same info on Arthur's death cert. The Vic BDM cannot find any record of Arthur being born in Vic, but have come across others born to James Egan and Sarah (McVeigh) It would appear Arthur was not registered or he simply did not know his mother. I have a couple of people who have been trying to help and we have come across the name Sarah McVeigh also. I have also sent for a death of a Sarah Egan in a mental asylum in Vic. I have also read info that she was Sarah McVeigh. I have come to the conclusion that Arthur was not registered and it is only guess work, but maybe this Sarah McVeigh/Egan was the mother and is the ancestor I am looking for - that is the BIG question!!!! If anyone can give anymore ideas (as I said I have two people helping to put the pieces together) I would love to hear something - thank you!
